Description
Cuphea hyssopifolia ‘Purple’, often referred to as Cuphea “Purple”, is a lush, ornamental shrub native to Mexico and parts of Central America. Valued for its delicate appearance and resilience, this cultivar features tiny, vibrant purple flowers that bloom prolifically throughout the warm months. The fine-textured, glossy green foliage provides a soft backdrop for the flowers, creating a dense, tidy mound that typically reaches 1 to 2 feet in height and spread. It is heat-tolerant, drought-resistant once established, and well-suited for borders, rock gardens, or containers. In addition to its visual appeal, Cuphea “Purple” attracts beneficial pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Its easy-care nature and consistent blooming make it a favorite in both home and public landscapes in tropical and subtropical regions.
