Description

Cassia ‘Scrambled Egg’ (Cassia glauca), also called the Scrambled Egg Bush, is a sun-loving, drought-tolerant shrub or small tree native to India and Sri Lanka. Growing up to 3–5 meters tall, it is named for its vibrant yellow flowers that bloom in profusion during warm seasons, closely resembling the color and texture of scrambled eggs. The plant features compound, gray-green leaves that give it a soft, attractive texture even when not in bloom. It is commonly used in dry, tropical, and subtropical gardens for ornamental purposes, hedging, and erosion control. Cassia glauca thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, and once established, it requires little water or care. The flowers attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, adding ecological value to garden spaces. Due to its resilience and striking floral display, it is a popular choice for roadsides, mass plantings, and xeriscaping projects. Pruning can help maintain a tidy shape and encourage repeat blooming.
