Native to the Indian subcontinent, it typically grows 10–15 meters tall and develops a rounded, spreading canopy. During late spring and early summer, the tree becomes covered in long, pendulous clusters of bright golden-yellow flowers, often blooming in such abundance that the leaves are nearly obscured. These fragrant blossoms attract bees and butterflies, enhancing pollinator activity in the landscape. The tree’s compound leaves add a soft, delicate texture, and after flowering, it produces long, cylindrical seed pods. Cassia fistula thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, showing good drought tolerance once established.
