Description

The Bottle Brush Fern (Asparagus densiflorus ‘Meyersii’), also known as the Foxtail Fern, is a unique ornamental plant known for its dense, upright, plume-like stems that resemble bottle brushes or fluffy fox tails. Despite its name, it’s not a true fern but a member of the asparagus family. Its bright green, needle-like foliage grows in tight, arching clusters, creating a soft, feathery texture that adds elegance and structure to gardens or containers. Native to South Africa, this hardy perennial is drought-tolerant once established and thrives in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. It’s often used as a striking accent in borders, hanging baskets, or patio planters. The Bottle Brush Fern is also relatively low maintenance and can tolerate some neglect, making it a favorite for both indoor and outdoor settings.
