Description

Agave ‘Whale’s Tongue’ (Agave ovatifolia) is a striking succulent known for its large, smooth, and broad blue-gray leaves that resemble the shape of a whale’s tongue. Native to northeastern Mexico, this agave forms a rosette that typically grows 2 to 3 feet (60 to 90 cm) tall and wide, with the leaves curving outward and often tipped with small spines. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for xeriscaping and drought-tolerant landscapes. Once mature, it produces a tall flower spike, but it typically dies after flowering, although it can produce pups to continue its growth. Its bold, architectural form and minimal care requirements make it a popular choice for both garden and container plantings.
